Travel agent appreciation is higher post-pandemic

Professionals looking for training can now register for the 34th Festuris Gramado.

The turmoil in the tourism market since the end of 2021 has generated enormous expectations for the new direction of tourism in Brazil and around the world. According to the Braztoa Yearbook, released in April, the January 2022 survey by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) Panel of Experts indicates that 61% of tourism professionals expect a better performance in 2022 than in 2021.

For travel agent Victor Almeida, from Victor Travel in Porto Alegre, the recovery of the tourism sector is already a reality and he considers this to be one of the best times since the beginning of the pandemic. "I think I did my homework during the period when there were no travel sales. I spoke to my clients, made myself available, adjusted demands and now I see a boom in demand for travel, especially international travel, which is our flagship," says Victor, who has been working in tourism for 18 years, with an agency specializing in North America and a reference in travel to Canada and the United States.

The positive expectations of the tourism chain are becoming more evident, according to the figures from the Ministry of Tourism's Register of Tourist Service Providers, Cadastur. The platform has reached the mark of 140,973 registered tourism establishments and guides. According to the Ministry of Tourism's website, there were 4,419 new registrations in the first four months of this year alone.

According to Victor, there is a greater appreciation of travel agents on the part of clients. "I notice that passengers are afraid, not just because of the financial issue, but because of their safety and health, recognizing the role of the agent, who is fundamental for a smooth trip," says Almeida, who also warns: "Be careful, look for a committed travel agent," he concludes.

Being aware of the needs of tourism and the trade, and understanding the strength of this upturn, Festuris - International Tourism Fair, which takes place from November 3 to 6 in Gramado, is now open for registration. Travel agents and tourist guides can register for free at www.festurisgramado.com.br.
