Nova Petrópolis is promoting the 49th International Folklore Festival from July 14 to 31, with attractions in Rua Coberta and Praça das Flores, as well as activities elsewhere in the municipality. Throughout the 18-day program, the Diversity Stage will host performances by 63 international, national, regional and local groups, with no entrance fee.

In 2022, the International Folklore Festival will once again be held in person, after two years away. The resumption of the event, coupled with the 120th anniversary of credit cooperativism, led to the choice of cooperation as this year's theme. "Diversity unites us and cooperation strengthens us" is the slogan for the 49th edition of the Festival.

"There couldn't have been a more appropriate choice for this year's edition. We're on the road to recovery and, at times like this, we need even more cooperation," says the mayor of Nova Petrópolis, Jorge Darlei Wolf.

The 49th Nova Petrópolis International Folklore Festival is represented by the German Folklore Court, made up of Queen Mariana Caroline Marcon, 1st Princess Tainara Iasmin Blauth and 2nd Princess Thaís Sofia Paetzinger.

The program for the 49th International Folklore Festival will begin on July 14, in Linha Imperial, with the ceremony to light the Folklore Flame. Emphasizing the theme of the 49th edition, the show "Cooperativism in Motion" will brighten up the official opening of the event, on July 15, and the closing ceremony, on July 31, both in Rua Coberta.

Other attractions on the program are the Cultural Evenings; the 6th Sovereigns' Meeting; the Diversity Sarau; the Children's Ball; the Germanic Games and the Diversity Games; the Diversity Pots and the Diversity Hands; the Diversity Fair and the Food Court; and the Diversity Walk.

"Culture is one of the great riches of Nova Petrópolis and the International Folklore Festival is an excellent representation of this whole context of the city. We celebrate the legacy of our ancestors and fraternize with other cultures, united by diversity," says the president of the Association of German Folk Dance Groups of Nova Petrópolis (AGDFA-NP), Rafael Reidel Haas.
