CO2 offsetting is acting in defense of the environment

When it comes to the environment, you have to take a firm stand. And more than that, you have to act in its defense. It is in this context that Coluna de Turismo/60+ will be offsetting the CO2 generated during its travels, including its stands at the fairs in which it will be taking part. "We've decided to do our bit," says journalist and Carbon Free campaigner Ariel Figueroa.

The first action will take place at the 34th Festuris, from November 3 to 6. "Our stand will offset the CO2 generated by calculating air and land travel from Bahia to Gramado, including energy consumption at the stand," explains Figueiroa.

For this initiative, Coluna de Turismo/60+ has found the ideal partner, Ororo, a company that works with energy efficiency at all levels and needs. According to Ariel, it has the technology to measure the CO2 generated, presents technical reports, calculates the carbon credits and then presents the Carbon Neutral Green Seal and the Traceable Carbon Digital Certificate.

At Festuris, the Tourism Column/60+ will offer you the opportunity to calculate the CO2 consumption of your trip using a QRCode, which can be calculated for individuals or companies. By filling in the required data and faithfully following the LGPD rules, a value will be issued in kilos of CO2 and its equivalent in reais to be paid. "Filling in the form doesn't mean you have to pay, but it does give you an idea of exactly how much CO2 your trip generated. If you want to pay, just follow the steps and issue the bank slip to the e-mail address you registered with," says the journalist. The QRCode is a website and there's no need to download anything. Just scan it on your IOS or Android phone and follow the process.

Being zero carbon means calculating total emissions, reducing where possible and offsetting the rest of the emissions. One of the ways to compensate is to buy carbon credits on voluntary markets, or to recover degraded areas through forestry arrangements.
